Mojave River Flood Closes Rock Springs Road Near Hesperia?

6/27/2023 (Permalink)

A river is shown during a flash flood. We respond to flooding emergencies 24 hours a day in San Bernardino County.

A few months ago, nature unleashed a series of atmospheric rivers that caused the Mojave River to crest its banks, washing over Rock Springs Road in Hesperia, and flooding homes in other low-lying areas of San Bernardino County.

When you need emergency assistance with a flooding emergency, our local Hesperia/Apple Valley and Barstow/Twentynine Palms, Victorville teams are ready to respond and typically arrive on-site within four hours of your call. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), urges people to be aware of the signs and clues that indicate an impending flash flood.

Series of Thunderstorms

Listen to local weather forecasting thunderstorms. When thunderstorms come through a region in a series, the rain they produce can saturate the ground and leave no place for the water to drain, causing flash flooding events.

Roaring Sounds

Sometimes you can hear a roaring sound before you see the flash flood. Look for rapidly rising water in streams and riverbeds. The water may also turn a muddy color. If you hear or see any of these conditions, head for higher ground immediately to avoid being swept away by the rising water.
